Take learning into your own hands with the support of your dedicated instructors.
Each course requires students to attend in-person one day a week* providing you the opportunity to learn with fellow students and your instructor in real time. This synchronous class time consists of lectures, hands-on projects, live coding exercises, and more!
*Students may be required to be onsite more than one day a week in certain circumstances, included but not limited to the first week of class and Demo Day.

Aside from weekly in-person classes, students can build a schedule that works for them. Coursework is delivered asynchronously through an online learning management system, allowing students to work on assignments on their own time so life doesn't get in the way of school, and school doesn't get in the way of life.
For additional information, you can refer to the Atlas School catalog or reach out to Admissions.
You do not need a license or certification to be a software developer. All Atlas School 20-month programs are diploma-level programs. Upon graduation, students will have the skills and portfolio needed to pursue entry level careers in their field of study.
We get this question a lot! Most people are used to a semester-based system at other institutions, where learning takes place in the fall and spring, with a long break in the summer. This comes out to about 16 weeks per semester. Usually students will enroll in 3-6 courses that cover the entire time period.
We use a trimester system, where learning taking place in the fall, spring, AND summer with shorter breaks in between. This comes out to about 15 weeks per trimester. Atlas School programs are structured so each course lasts 5 weeks. Even though you may enroll in 3-6 courses over a trimester, you will only be in 1-2 courses at any given time. For more specific information on trimester start dates and breaks, reach out to Admissions!
When learning about our programs, you may hear courses referred to as either "Professional Devleopment" and "General Education" courses or "Technical Courses." Both types of courses are a key part of our curriculum.
General Education Courses prepare students for the professional expectations of the workforce. These include communications classes that teach how to present oneself in the workplace and communicate in interviews and teams, as well as professional development courses that teach how to look for and evaluate job opportunities, build a resume, and cultivate an online presence. These courses are the same for all students, so you'll see them listed for each program. In a typical schedule, students will take one General Education course each trimester.
Technical Courses train students on the specific programming languages, frameworks, and skills needed to be an entry-level software developer. Because our programs teach skills from a foundational level, they share many of the same technical courses in early trimesters that cover introductory programming concepts and best practices. As each program progresses, the coursework becomes more specialized according to the field of study. You'll see this reflected in the course listing for each program. In a typical schedule, students will take three Technical Courses each trimester.
For the next start date, students can expect to attend in-person classes from 9:00am-12:00pm one to two days a week during their first trimester. The days and times of courses for future trimesters will vary based on your academic schedule.
Atlas School operates on a 15-week trimester rotation with 3 five-week modules within each trimester. Each course module begins on a Monday and ends (five weeks later) on a Friday. Capstone (CS2900) final presentations and Demo Day events may be scheduled outside of normal class hours. These will take place in the last course module of a student's final trimester.
Asynchronous coursework is designed to provide a level of flexibility; however, academic related activities (ARAs) may be assigned and come due at any time during the course, including weekends.
